Diana Adkins Obituary

DIANA LAVELY ADKINS, 73, of Alkol, WV went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2024, surrounded by the family she loved. She was born April 16, 1950, in Van, WV to the late Albert Leon McCarty and Patsy Ruth Cook McCarty.
She is preceded in death by her foster son, Joseph D. Whitman.
Diana was a longtime member of Sycamore Grove Baptist Church and a retired school bus driver for Lincoln County Schools. She valued and encouraged all the kids who rode with her, good or bad.
Diana loved the Lord, her family, and her trusty vacuum cleaner better than anything in the world. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Larry G. Adkins; her much loved children, Shannon S. Adkins (Michelle) and Sheree K. Pauley both of Alkol, WV; sister, Teresa Woodruff (Randy) of Madison; brother, Joseph H. McCarty of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Ali Jo Whitman (Paige), Cody S. Adkins, Jake S. Pauley, Samantha Gill (Derrick), Logan Thomas, Thomas Lewis, Abigail Whitman, Wyatt Whitman, Mason Whitman, and a host of extended family.
Diana surprised the entire family by having two furry friends move in: Squirt, a demon bushy tailed cat and Lavely, a friendly and frisky Australian labradoodle puppy pal.
There will be a brief ceremony at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Dotson Family Cemetery located at 2774 Bulger Road in Alkol, WV with Timothy Spratt officiating.
