Jon Montelius Obituary

Jon (LJ) Emil Montelius, May 5th 1958 – May 5th 2025 is survived by his brother Paul and his wife Joanne and their two children, and his former wife Madeline Becker and her two children, Carol and Danny. He is also survived and supported by his very close friends, Ron, Vinnie, Nancy, Jennifer, Liz, Chris, Maria, and Don. John was an avid white-water paddler who paddled from Canada to West Virginia and down to southern Chile. His favorite river was the Colorado through the Grand Canyon, which he paddled twice. He was also active with his Porsche 914 doing autocross with the Porsche Club of America. These pass-times were cut shorth by the diagnosis of ALS. He had also started sky diving, which was cut short by the disease. Jon was fortunate to make many friends and meet many interesting people participating in these activities. Jon would like to thank everyone at the Hospital for Special Care for taking care of him during his last 20 months, For the last year of his life, Jon was on life support, which he ended on May 5th with his family, friends, and caring staff around him. Friends may call Friday from 5-7 P.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:00 at Tabor Cemetery in Branford.
