GANDY

ANN EFLAND GANDY (Age 90)

Ann Efland Gandy passed away on July 17, 2022, in Ventura, California. Ann was born in Efland, NC and was the youngest of 10 children. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1949 and Duke University in 1953 and took a job teaching in Florida where she met her husband John, a naval officer. They moved to various duty stations and eventually settled in Annandale VA for over 45 years. Ann worked as an English teacher at Poe Intermediate School for 20 years. She was the President of the Falls Church Chapter of DAR for many years and volunteered as a docent at the DAR museum. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Ann is survived by her three children: Patricia Venable (William) of Ventura, CA; Matthew Gandy (Annette) of Tualatin, OR and Martha Aker (Clyde) of Yreka, CA; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband John David Gandy, her parents, and her nine siblings. Funeral Services will be held at the Efland United Methodist Church in Efland, NC, on August 13, 2022 at 1 p.m.
