LUZERNE — Susan Ann Zera, 87, of Luzerne, passed away on Nov. 21, 2021, at Wesley Village, Pittston, where she resided.
Born Sept. 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Havach. She graduated from Luzerne High School and was a lifelong resident of Luzerne until she moved to Wesley Village in 2020.
Susan was a talented seamstress. She worked in the garment industry throughout her life and was formerly employed at Leslie Fay. Her skill was not left at her job. Susan enjoyed making outfits for her children and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Susan was very devoted to her Catholic faith. She was an active member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and its Altar and Rosary Society. Susan volunteered at church and for the Holy Family Food Pantry. She also sang proudly in her church choir. Deeply loved by her family and friends, she will be sadly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Zera; granddaughter, Jennifer Alles; sister, Mary Rosinski; and brothers, Joey, Mikey, Johnnie and Georgie Havach. Surviving is her sister, Anna Stefancin.
She leaves behind her daughter, Marlene Alles, of Forty Fort; daughter Susan Seitz and husband Robert, of Swoyersville; son, Leonard J. Zera and wife Diane, of Yatesville; four grandchildren, Karen Smith, George Alles, Matthew Zera and Emily Zera; and her great-granddaughter, Kayla Lynn Smith.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at Betz-Jastremski Funeral Home Ltd., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment services will follow at St. John Nepomucene Cemetery, Courtdale.
