Beverly Tinsley Obituary

Beverly Smith Tinsley, 83, of Richmond passed peacefully at home in the loving care of her family on November 8, 2023.

Bev was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and the beach was always 'home'. She moved to Richmond in her youth; an early highlight was her time as Miss Bank of Virginia in the Tobacco Festival. A graduate of Douglas Freeman, she was a homemaker, joining the workforce later in life. She retired from Radiology Associates of Richmond.

She was a beautiful mother and a light amongst her circle of friends. Her enthusiasm, kindness, spunky spirit, sassy sense of humor, and love of dance and music will be missed. She was known to friends and family as the fabulous, Fancy Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Smith and Sue Raines; her brother, Wm. Martin Smith; and her infant son, David Edward Tinsley.

Bev is survived by her three daughters, Teresa Ranson Murphey (Trip), Michelle T. Schultz, and Danielle T. Smith (Don), and many grandchildren and great-grandkids.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm. on December 3 at Unity of Bon Air, 923 Buford Rd., Richmond, VA 23235.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Unity of Bon Air or Children's Hospital of Richmond. The family would like to give special thanks to Trinity Hospice, Commonwealth Home Care and CJW staff for their loving partnership.

I am very saddened to learn of Bev's passing. We were friends and classmates at Douglas S. Freeman High School. I am glad we remained somewhat in touch over the years. Bev was always a delight to speak with because she brought humor to every conversation.

My sympathy to Bev's family. I know she will be missed by many.

Danielle,
My deepest sympathies for you, and your family!
These words can also be used to describe you, my friend, "a light amongst her circle of friends. Her enthusiasm, kindness, spunky spirit, sassy sense of humor, and love of dance and music ". The apple must not have fallen far.
I am praying for ya'll. Please don't hesitate to call on me!
Much love!
