Albert Sante Obituary

Albert J. Sante, 91

AUBURN/GRAFTON - Albert J. "Al" Sante, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Butler) Sante, in 2017.

He leaves his daughters, Susan Cass, her husband Richard and their children, Riley and Tyler, of North Grafton; and Ellen Dubs, her husband Jon and their daughter Grace, of South Grafton; his niece, Joanne Fiore-Stutzman, of West Palm Beach, FL. Along with Betsy, and his parents, the late Dominic and Grace (DiPasquale) Sante, Al was predeceased by his siblings: Daniel P. Sante (Gertrude) and Anna Sante-Fiore (Joseph).

Al was born, raised and educated in Buffalo, New York. He was a graduate of the University of Buffalo, where he received his Bachelor's degree in Biology. Al proudly served in the United States Navy from 1953 until 1956. Al returned to Buffalo after his naval service where he met and married the love of his life, Betsy. In 1970 they moved to Massachusetts, settling in Auburn – the town they would call home for over 40 years. Al dedicated over 30 years of his career working at Crucible Steel, retiring in 1991 as Merchandising Sales Manager. In 2014, Al and Betsy moved to South Grafton.

Al was renowned among his friends and family as a handyman and problem solver. He took great pride in his Auburn home, remodeling and upgrading it several times. He did everything from plumbing and electrical work to cabinetry and flooring. His other interests included cars, jazz and big band music, annual trips to Myrtle Beach, playing golf and Thursday night Poker games with longtime Auburn friends. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Auburn. In later years, he enjoyed watching baseball, football, and golf on TV with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 (www.parkinson.org).

Funeral services will be held privately at Britton-Wallace Funeral Home in Auburn. Al will be laid to rest with his beloved Betsy in Hillside Cemetery. To leave a note of condolence for his family, or to share a fond memory of Al, please visit www.brittonfuneralhomes.com
