Charles James Knecht

Charles James Knecht, 74, of South Sioux City passed away on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at Azria Health Regency Square.
Service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church with Reverend James Travis officiating. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Charles was born on July 31, 1947, in Akron, Iowa, to James R. and Alma J. (Meyer) Knecht. He received his education and graduated from Akron High School with the Class of 1965. Charles married Barbee K. May on Dec. 27, 1966, in Worthington, Minn. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict serving in the United States Army.
Following his honorable discharge, Charlie and wife Barbee returned to Siouxland, settling in South Sioux City. Charlie worked as a corrugator operator for over 44 years at the same location, retiring from the WestRock Corporation. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Charlie was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in the Leeds area of Sioux City.
Charles is survived by his wife Barbee of South Sioux City; son Alan D. Knecht of South Sioux City; and sister Charlene (Russell) Vander Schaaf of Akron.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
