James J. Kosinski, age 77, of Hayward, WI passed away on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023.
James Jerome Kosinski was born June 2, 1946, in Chicago, IL, the son of Harry and Virginia (Dopieralski) Kosinski. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Lane Technical High School. While working at a local gas station he attended classes in auto mechanics afterword working for Goodyear. On September 24, 1966, Jim was joined in marriage to Irene F. Firak at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chicago. Jim and Irene lived in Chicago until moving to Hanover Park, IL where Jim started work as a dispatcher in the evenings for the Police Department. Jim then began working as a police officer in Honover Park in 1969 and over his career he specialized in accident investigations for multiple surrounding towns for the police department. While working, Jim volunteered as a little league coach for 20 years. Jim retired from the police department in 1989 and then began work with a storage facility. Jim and Irene moved to Hayward, WI where Jim went to work for AmericInn and then the LCO Casino until fully retiring. Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, hockey and watching the Little League World Series. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Irene; two sons, Jimmy Kosinski of Hayward, Jeff (Shannon) Kosinski of Lakemoor, IL; two granddaughters, Ashley Kosinski, Kayla Harley; brother-in-law, Jay (Dorothy) Firak, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeremy; and one sister, Donna Mierzwinski.
A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Hayward Funeral Home with Father Gregory Hopefl officiating. A time of gathering will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.
