William Marini Obituary

William J. Marini, Jr.

Sunderland, MA - Bill, 73, of Sunderland passed peacefully on August 7 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by loving family.

He was born in Greenfield January 29, 1950, son of William Marini and June (Paulin). He graduated Greenfield High School in 1968. An army veteran, he served in Viet Nam.

Bill was a self employed flooring contractor. He was ambitious and a perfectionist. He owned Marini's Carpet Center, worked for Christiansen's and Cooley Dickinson Hospital of Northampton and Booska's Flooring of Turners Falls for Dennis Booska, also his longtime friend.

He previously lived in Turners Falls and Wendell, then moving to Sunderland in 1987 where he and Gwendolyn (Calcari) were married in their home.

Bill enjoyed chess, black jack, the casino, movies, vacationing at Weirs Beach and waterskiing and boating with his brother. He cherished time spent reminiscing and barbequeing with sister, Debra, Penny and Chrysta. He had a unique sense of humor. Bill took pride in his 30 year sobriety.

He was predeceased by parents, first wife Jean (Geddis) and their daughter, Lisa.

Survivors are Gwendolyn Marini, ex-wife and dear friend and Jayson Marini, great grandson of Brattleboro, Chrysta Marini, granddaughter of Sunderland, and Matthew Calcari (Diane), stepson of Greenfield. Siblings Camella Sebastiano and Cheryl Grzywacz of Chicopee, Donna Courchesne of Greenfield, Richard Marini (Lonnie) of Gill, Debra Marini of Orange, nieces and nephews. Bill will be dearly missed.

Our dearest Billy, you are already deeply missed . Our hearts are filled with memories from backyard barbecues. Suzie's potato salad, who Chrysta was Warned to to stay out of , so Billy could have later. Deb would talk endlessly about the get together in Billy's back yard and how much Jayson had grown. We took a few adventurous rides in the big white hippie Van. We even broke down once on our way to Suzy's for Easter dinner, Sue was determined to get us that easter dinner and she did. We got together at Sue's a few times celebrated New Year's and just hanging out, billy always had jokes ...drove up to poet seat to see the view. One time, Billy planned a huge surprise for Deb. He took her to her childhood home We stayed there for a good time Talking about memories, how little Deb was.
He didn't call her his little sister. It was his baby sister . Those morning call he would do every day he would say ( How are you doing smiley !!! Lots of love Deb,Penny ,and Sue
