David Herbein Obituary

Our dear father and husband, David M. Herbein, 79, of West Lawn, sadly passed away on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of 49 years to Dorothy A. Herbein (Katchur). He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy, daughters Jennifer Klick (Bradley) and Jessica Herbein (Veselin), Granddaughter Morgan Klick (Boss), and Granddogs Phoebe, Ally, and Daphne. Born in Reading, David was a son of the late Eli K. and Edith V. (Matthew) Herbein. He is predeceased by two brothers and one sister still living. He was a graduate of Reading High School. David worked for GPU for 34 years and DirectLink Technologies for 16 years. He loved going to work and we tried to get him to retire, but he loved hanging out with his buddies and going to work. Dave was a wonderful father and husband who was always there when we needed him. He will be sadly missed by friends and family and holds a special spot in all our hearts. David enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles & Phillies, Nascar racing, Hallmark movies, General Hospital, playing the drums, gardening, and taking on building projects. Dave was a member of the Ringgold Band in the 1960's, 70's & 80's. He first started when his father was the Ringgold Band Equipment Manager. Dave was an excellent percussionist and taught classes at Zeswitz Music. He was also a member of the Met-Ed bowling team. We would love for you to come to honor his life at a Celebration of Life on a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of David Herbein to the Ringgold Band Young Artists Award Scholarship Fund. The Band Hall address is 3539A Freemont Street, Laureldale, PA 19605.
