Richard Rhoads Obituary

Richard W. Rhoads, husband of Marilyn (Ried) Rhoads of Upper Pottsgrove, passed away on October 30, 2023. Born in Pottstown, he was a son of William W. and Emma (Schaeffer) Rhoads. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel at the Pottstown plant and upon its closing transferred to the Bethlehem Plant in Bethlehem in 1975. He was a rate setter in the industrial engineering department in Pottstown, and later a production scheduler and material supervisor at the central tool department in Bethlehem. Since his retirement he served at the Phoenixville Senior Center as trip coordinator for many years, taking seniors throughout the United States and the world. Richard was an army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a radar operator on Okinawa, Japan. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, Daughter Rebecca, of Upper Pottsgrove, daughter Kristy of Bally, and two grandchildren Richard and Kailyn, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 611 Swamp Creek Road, Bechtelsville on Thursday, November 9th. Visitation will be at 10 A.M. followed by the funeral service at 11 A.M. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Andrew United Methodist Church or if anyone is so inclined, they may donate time, money or personal items to a veteran's center in memory of Richard.
