James Tanner, age 81, passed away on October 26, 2023.James accepted Christ at an early age. At his passing, he was a member of Holy Bethel MB Church.James shared a life of 50 years with the love of his life Sandra. They parented two children, Tyrone and Tracie.James worked at the Gary Streets and Sanitation Department for 30 years retiring in 2009.James is a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the King Hiram Lodge #4, Gary, IN.James is preceded in death by parents Carroll Tanner and Mary Hudson-Harris; wife, Sandra Tanner; son, Tyrone Edwards; daughter, Tracie Winborn; grandson Jadeen Winborn; brothers: Isaac Harris, Steven Hervey; sister, Carroll Price.Siblings Jacqueline (Robert) Perry, Spencer (Sabrina) Hervey, Jr., Cherrie (William) Mitchell, Cheryl Freeman, Lewis Harris, III, Arthur (Carole) Harris.Service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Holy Bethel MB Church, 810 West 8th Avenue, Gary, IN.
