Richard Jones Obituary

Richard Pardon Jones, 82, originally from West Middletown, died peacefully, in his sleep, in Milford, Del., on the morning of Sunday, February 20, 2022.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sandy, of almost 30 years; his three children, Chris (wife, Heather and two sons, Auden and Augustus), Dana and Benjamin; three stepchildren and their grandchildren; his sister, Amy (John, deceased) Taggart; and sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruth Brownlee Jones; and his brothers, Doc and David.

As a young man, Richard graduated from Avella District Joint High School Class of 1957, Washington and Jefferson College, and West Virginia University before moving to and residing in the state of Delaware.

He worked for many years as a social worker at Underwood Memorial Hospital in the neighboring state of New Jersey.

A military veteran and a devout Christian, he enjoyed square dancing, studying Biblical scripture, and working outdoors in his backyard. He spent many weekends supporting and cheering on his grandchildren in their school and club sporting events.

All services were private.

Dick and I grew up together, a few houses apart. Even though I ahve not seen Dick for many years, I have many memories of football games ,slledriding, and of course Halloween Pranks.
My prayers are with you and the family.
