Helen Davis Obituary

Odessa - Helen Raye Davis, better known to all as "Granny", entered into eternity on October 23, 2023, in Odessa, Texas. Helen was born on July 1, 1940, to Johnnie and Joy King in Indio, California. Her family moved numerous times all across the country. Helen would graduate from Monahans Highschool in 1958. She went on to attend American Commercial Business College. After graduation, she worked as a legal administrative assistant for Tom Sneed, Tony Chavez, John Hoestenbach, and John Cunningham. Helen was an avid member of the Odessa Bridge Club for many years. She never turned down an opportunity to play card games or poker with family and friends. Helen always looked forward to her annual trips to Hobbs, NM and Las Vegas, NV. She enjoyed all the games at the casino while being surrounded by friends. She also looked forward to the Taylor Family reunion. Helen met L.C. Davis, Jr, in Odessa, Texas and married on October 8, 1994. They were married for 29 wonderful years. They continually supported each other while having a fun and loving marriage. Helen was a wife, mother, but most importantly to her, a grandmother. Granny took every chance she could to spend time with any of her grandchildren. She would attend all sporting events and cheer the loudest. Granny often took the kids to school, seldomly on time, then turned around for pickup and take them to L.C. "paw" to the station for a coke-a-cola. Granny held all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren near and dear to her heart. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Joy King; younger sisters, Carla Allen and Joann Maddox; brothers-in-law, Gary Holscher and Larry Allen; son-in-law, Mogens Kofod; son-in-law, Bob Garcia, Jr.; and twin great granddaughters, Bobbie and Scottie Garcia. Helen is survived by her husband, L.C. Davis, Jr. of Odessa, TX; aunt, Novelyn Grizzard of Odessa, TX; children, Sherry Garcia of Dallas and Odessa, TX, Ray Bench (Liz) of Kirbyville, TX, Doyle Carlton of Pumpa, TX; bonus daughters, Holly Kofod of Austin, TX, Pam Davis of Odessa, Lisa Davis of Odessa, TX; siblings, Casey Holscher Melbourne, FL, Peggy (Randy) Airheart of Forney, Texas, John Ed (June) King of Coppell, TX; brother-in-law, Ken Maddox; grandchildren, Matthew Garcia (Allison) of Charlotte, NC, Luis Pavia (Amanda) of Raleigh, NC, Lukas Garcia (Courtny) of Dallas, TX, Maggie Carlisle (Colt) of Dallas, TX, Montanya Ramirez (Ramiro) of Long Beach, CA, Rachael Granel (Taylor) of Long Beach, CA, Nicole Bench of Maricopa, AZ; great grandchildren, Belén Ramirez, Crawford Carlisle, Alek Ramirez, Sebastian Garcia, Dior Pearson and Leighton Garcia. Helen had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other children in her life who called her granny. Pallbearers will be Matthew Garcia, Luis Pavia, Lukas Garcia, Colt Carlisle, Teddy Hackney and Grant Hackney. Memorials may be given in honor of Helen Davis to Home Hospice Odessa at 601 East 2nd Street, Suite F, Odessa, Texas, 79760. The family of Helen Davis wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mary Williams, Mary was a partner in crime, lunch and shopping friend and caregiver to Helen. I enjoyed Helen she was a hand full to take care of but she a great person. I sure going to miss her bless her heart. Mr Davis my condolences my prayers are with you.
