Ruth Disney
Nora Ruth Disney died November 23, 2021 at her home in Superior, NE. Born October 29, 1936 on a farm near Alexandria NE, she was the 8th of 10 children born to William H. Cortney and Sabina C. (Costelloe)Cortney. She attended Alexandria Public Schools and graduated in 1954. On December 7, 1957 she married Norman Glen Disney and moved to Superior, NE where together they raised 5 children.
Ruth was a 64-year member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Superior Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering with her children s school activities when they were young. She enjoyed playing bingo and volunteering in the kitchen at both the VFW and church and in her later years enjoyed watching TV game shows and cooking shows.
Preceding Ruth in death was her husband Norman Disney, her son Michael Disney, her parents, William and Sabina Cortney, her siblings Jim Cortney, Thomas Cortney, Mary Cortney, Bernard Cortney, William Cortney, Dennis Jerome Cortney, John Cortney, and Anna Marie Domling.
Ruth is survived by her son Richard Disney, Superior, and daughters Patricia (Scott)Henderson, Columbia MO, Lisa (Karl)Baxa, Cuba KS, and Catherine Disney, Superior, grandchildren, Brian (Hilary Baker-Jennings) Henderson, Medford MA, Matthew Henderson, Greenwood Village CO, Nickalous Baxa, Cuba KS, and Amanda Baxa, Cuba KS. She is also survived by one great grandchild Genevieve Baker-Henderson, her sister Kathleen Selig, Fairbury NE, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday December 11, 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Superior, NE, the Southern Nebraska Arts Council (Crest Theatre), Simic Recreation Association (Roller Rink), or donate to a food pantry of your choice.
