Richard "Dick" Lewis Ward Sr., a man of warmth and humor, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the age of 76 in Gladwin, Michigan. Born on September 9, 1948, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Lewis and Alice (Weber) Ward, Richard's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his country, and his numerous passions.
A graduate of Lapeer High School in Lapeer, Michigan, Richard went on to serve his nation with pride and distinction in the Air Force for six years as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. His time in the service imbued him with a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
Richard found joy and companionship in Micki, his beloved wife of 29 years. Together, they built a life full of laughter and love, raising a family that included his children, Kimberlyn (Stephen Sr.) Smith, Karan (Terry) Dowell, and Richard Jr. (Jamie) Ward, as well as his stepchildren, Tommy Mullin, Jennifer (Tony) Stephen, and Jessie (Nathan) Tribbey. He was a pillar of strength and a source of endless entertainment for his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. His sister, Darlene King, will fondly remember the bond they shared throughout their lives.
Richard's interests were as varied as they were enthusiastic. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hearing the roar of engines at stock car races, but he was happiest surrounded by nature while camping or immersed in a project in his garage. He also loved animals, particularly his dogs Molly and Charlie.
Richard was a long-time member of the Gladwin Church of Christ, where he served as a Trustee.
Those who knew Richard will remember a man who was funny, loving, and friendly. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had an uncanny ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. His love knew no bounds, and his friendly demeanor made him a cherished member of his community.
Richard's legacy is not only in the love he shared but also in the model of kindness and camaraderie he embodied. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire laughter and love in the hearts of his family and friends.
As we say farewell to Richard "Dick" Lewis Ward Sr., we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by joy, service, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His spirit will live on in the stories told and the memories cherished by all those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Gladwin Church of Christ on Saturday, April 26 at 12pm, with a luncheon following. Friends and family may visit from 11AM until time of service.

Richard it´s been a wile. We lived together in that big truck. We had some good times out on the road. You made over the road fun. R.I.P.
