Peter Plotkin Obituary

Peter Plotkin, 102, passed away August 6, 2022. He was born February 11, 1920 in Dallas, Texas to the late Peter and Masha (Mosesman) Plotkin.
Peter was proud of his association with Hillsdale College and at the age of 95 was conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Public Service. During WW2 he served in the United States Army. After the war he worked in the VA offices and retired from The Aerospace Corp at the age of 50. He became a self taught entrepreneur and developed low rise housing near Los Angeles Airport. Although Peter achieved great success in his endeavors, he never became pretentious about it. He considered "his guys" that worked for him extended family and his friends and were always welcome in his home.
He was always motivated. At age 85, Peter took up Pilates, yoga and worked at his desk till the age of 99. Even at 102 he walked a mile a day. The week before he died he could be found walking the interior perimeter of Walmart never missing their sporting section where he lifted weights.
Peter was a kind hearted man and always punctual. He never smoked or drank and loved to travel. He liked hot dogs and fresh vegetables. In honor of his parents, he founded the Peter & Masha Plotkin Memorial Foundation in Orange County California which serves as an art museum and meeting place for other non-profit organizations as well as for the promotion and education of art.
He moved to Florida in 1998 and was a member of the Venice Yacht Club. He traveled the world and was liked before he spoke.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Diane; son, Paul Plotkin and his wife Jan of Los Angeles; daughter, Pamela Plotkin of Newport, California; grandchildren, Shelby Schulte and her husband Tom; and Courie Plotkin Weiss and her husband Jeromy; great grandchildren, Lilah, Indiana and Ridley; and "his guys", Ray, Carlos and Isaac.
In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his former wife of 56 years, Betty; and 2 brothers, Morrie and David Plotkin.
