Peter Coveney Obituary

Peter Coveney of Weymouth passed away suddenly on November 8, 2021, at the age of 64. Peter was born, raised, and educated in Weymouth. Before finishing high school Peter left to proudly serve his country with the United States Marine Corps in 1975. After completing his military duty Peter returned home and worked various jobs around the south shore in the banking and maintenance industries, finally working in shipping and receiving at Francer Industries where he retired from in 2016.

Peter was a man of many hobbies and interests. Peter was a talented painter, enjoyed intellectual stimulation such as puzzles, brain games, chess and could give you facts about anything at the drop of a hat. Peter also loved all history, fishing, and sports. Above all else Peter was a hands-on father making sure his family was always provided and cared for. He was a loving husband, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He will be deeply missed by anyone who knew him.

Peter was the beloved husband of Judith Coveney of Weymouth. He was the cherished father of Jessica McDonald and her husband Paul of Hanover, Jacquelyn Coveney and her fiancé Ryan Smith of Plympton and stepfather to George McAvenia of Pembroke, William McAvenia and his significant other Stephanie Milgram of Pembroke and Charles McAvenia and his wife Heather of Brockton. Peter was the devoted grandfather to Charlie, Riley, Madelynn, Paul, Abigal and Peyton. Peter also leaves behind his siblings Joel Coveney, Cary Coveney, Dianne McQuarrie, Shawn Coveney, Jerel Coveney, Keith Coveney, Tara Coveney and Greg Coveney.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Peter on Wednesday November 17, 2021, from 4-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home Thursday morning for a Celebration of Life at 9:30am prior to the funeral mass which will take place at 10:30am in the Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth. Following the funeral mass there will be a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
