Mary Helen Adams, 96, widow of Hugh "Buddy" Adams since 2007, met her Lord on Thursday August 8, 2024, while a resident of the Willows at Citation. Mary Helen was the daughter of the late George W. and Martha King VanArsdall, born July 17, 1928 in Harrodsburg, KY, one of their 6 children. A talented woman, she was the organist for the Nicholasville Christian Church and Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home for many years and taught piano classes in her home as well. She loved to play golf with the ladies at Lone Oak Country Club, as well as knitting, cooking and baking. Mary Helen leaves precious memories with her children Cheryl Gould, husband Jan, Beth Estill, husband Bob, and Suzanne Adams, and grandchildren Kamryn, Brevyn, Ciara, as well as 2 great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her sisters Ruthie Wells, husband Jimmy, and Betty Montgomery and many other extended family members and friends. She joins her son Jerry Adams in death, as well as sisters Edith Ford, Lou Henderson, and brother Bud VanArsdall. Her Remembrance Service will be Monday August 12, at 6:00 PM with Rev. Bob Mallory and Rev. Lon Oliver officiating. Her family will greet friends beginning at 3:00 PM at the funeral home on Monday. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with a private family service on Tuesday. Serving as pallbearers are Jan Gould, Bob Estill, Kamryn Estill, Brevyn Estill, and Ciara Estill. Charles Fugitt will serve as an honorary pallbearer. "When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we are far apart; for every time you think of me, I'll be right here inside your heart." Donations may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators or The Willows at Citation. Hager & Cundiff would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Mary Helen's family and friends. All arrangements are under the direction of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and Cremations.
