Marian Louise (Leedy) Bowman, of Bellville, passed on to be with the Lord Jesus on June 28, 2025.
She was born on September 27, 1929, to Leonard Dell and Florence Ruth (Kunkle) Leedy in Knox County. She graduated from Butler High School in 1947. While in school she met Clyde Herbert Bowman, and they married on November 19, 1949, at North Liberty Methodist Church. They marked their 25th anniversary with a trip to the Holy Land where they renewed their vows on the road to Emmaus. They shared life's journey together for over 75 years, with an incredible, inseparable bond, exemplified by Marian's peaceful passing away at home less than 48 hours after her husband had done the same.
Marian was a homemaker and worked in the office at Westinghouse, D.H. Bowman & Sons, and Richland County Board of Elections.
She was an active, faithful member of Trinity UMC in Butler, Bellville UMC, and most recently, Three Crosses Methodist Fellowship in Butler. She enriched her faith in Jesus through participation in Lay Witness Missions and the Walk to Emmaus. She and Clyde experienced a call to Christian missions and served in Haiti with OMS International from 1981 to 1991. After retirement she and Clyde spent several winters in central Florida where they particularly enjoyed the spring training season of the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians). In later years, she believed her main ministries were intercessory prayer and sending encouraging greeting cards.
Marian is survived by her four children: Mark Bowman of Chicago, Illinois; Michael (Julie) Bowman of Lexington; David Hofferber of Bellville; and Joyce (Jim) Espich of Ashland - as well as 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Leonard Eugene Leedy, and her nephew Stephen Leedy.
There will be a celebration of her amazing, full life at Three Crosses Church in Butler on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11 a.m. Please send any memorial contributions to the Butler Three Crosses Church Building Fund.
