Kathryn Vee Maylin passed away peacefully at her home in Roy, at the age of 68, on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She was born in Price, Utah on November 15, 1953, to Gail Christensen and Virginia Josephine Robertson. Kathryn's family moved to Logan, Utah where she was raised and graduated from Logan High class of 1970. On June 2, 1978, she married the love of her life, Allen Maylin. They moved to Clearfield, Utah where they resided their entire marriage of almost 43 years, until his passing just over a year ago. Together they had two daughters and one son. Kathryn worked a variety of occupations before retiring as a telephone operator for Convergys.
Kathryn was a very colorful, vibrant soul. She was very creative and enjoyed many hobbies. Known for her "no filter" personality, we never knew what Mom was going to pipe up and say. She was known by her neighbors for her beautiful Christmas lights and décor. She had an entire room in her house dedicated for her Christmas décor storage! She was a gingerbread house making expert, creating entire villages, which she enjoyed doing with her grandchildren. In her younger years, she was also an avid gardener creating the most beautiful flower gardens and roses on their corner lot. She had a green thumb and could grow anything from rhubarb to corn and tomatoes. Kathryn and Allen enjoyed canning the produce from her garden and made their prized salsa that everyone loved. She was also a crafter and would create the most beautiful wreaths as gifts for her husband's Real Estate clients and their neighbors. She had a craft room that her kids labeled "Mini-Michaels" in reference to the craft store. Anything you needed from beads to glue guns, she had it. Though Kathryn's health suffered after the passing of her husband, she never lost her off-the-cuff personality, all the way to the end.
Kathryn is survived by her children, Tammy Duncan of West Haven, Utah, Jared (Mandie) Maylin of Roy, Utah, Leslie (Nick) Pead of Layton, Utah; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving is her brother, Mark (Heather) Christensen; and sister, Christine Christensen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Maylin; parents, Gail and Virginia Christensen; brothers, David and Edward Christensen; brother-in-law, Bruce Rusch; sister-in-law, Julie Maylin; and nephew, Jason Scott Terry.
Kathryn's family would like to thank everyone at Sunridge Assisted Living in Roy, for taking such good care of her this last year. Also, we would like to thank her Clearfield neighbors of many years, Scott and Amy Archibald, for all of their support and friendship to Allen and Kathryn.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Lindquist's Syracuse Mortuary, 869 S. 2000 W., Syracuse, Utah. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
