Katherine Elaine Adamson
March 22, 1961 – June 25, 2025
Katherine Elaine Adamson completed her remarkable mission on earth and passed away peacefully on the evening of June 25, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on March 22, 1961, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Katherine was the eldest child of Bonnie Burrows Young and James Layton Chase. She grew up in Utah with her beloved siblings, Lora (Gary) Brown and Christopher (Jackie) Chase, and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. A lifelong learner, she returned to school and earned a degree in Family Life from Brigham Young University in 2007.
Katherine's life was one of deep love, vibrant creativity, and devoted service. From a young age, she was drawn to music-teaching herself piano, then learning viola, violin and organ. She passed on this passion to her children and continued to teach music throughout her life, sharing the joy of melody and harmony with everyone she could.
She was the proud mother of four children: Jim Squire, the late KatieAnne Squire (Cassidy) Price, Kristine Squire, and Charles Christensen. On December 28, 2015, she married the love of her life, Jay Adamson, and was sealed to him for time and for all eternity in the Jordan River Temple. With Jay, she gained four more beloved children: Janae (Darin) Martineau, Anna Marie (Brian) Spackman, Alesha Adamson, and Spencer Adamson.
Katherine had a deep desire to heal and enrich the lives of others. She was certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), TimeLine Therapy, Hypnosis Therapy, and was a Therapeutic Nutritional Counselor. Through her business, New Joyful Life, she helped others release trauma, rewire the mind for peace and success, and restore body and spirit.
Katherine was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized at the age of nine. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Some of her most cherished roles were in the Primary, where she served in the presidency and loved teaching and working with the children and young women. She also delighted in all of her music-related callings and found great joy singing in the choir alongside her husband Jay. She always enjoyed accompanying others while they sang and to collaborate in musical numbers. Her service was heartfelt, consistent, and rooted in a deep love for the gospel and the people she served.
One of her most sacred joys was temple work. Together with Jay, she spent many hours in the temple doing work for her ancestors, and they also loved serving as ordinance workers in the Columbia South Carolina Temple for a year. On July 17, 2024, she brought her siblings together to be sealed as an eternal family in the Draper Utah Temple.
In the final chapter of her life, Katherine and Jay served a six-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kayenta, Arizona, among the Navajo Nation. Despite health challenges, she continued to teach seminary and institute, offer piano lessons, share gardening knowledge, and bring joy and light to everyone she met.
Katherine is remembered by her family and friends as a blazing sun-radiant, warm, and full of life. She was deeply empathetic, always seeking to connect with and uplift those around her. Whether skydiving, exploring new crafts, or surprising others with her knitted or handmade gifts and calligraphy, she embraced each new experience with joy and curiosity. She filled her home with music, love, and faith.
To her children, she was an encourager and a safe haven-fiercely believing in them and teaching them to speak their truth, honor their hearts, and walk with courage. To her husband Jay, she was a soulmate and eternal companion filling their days with infinite joy and happiness. To her friends, she was a bright light-authentic, courageous, and endlessly generous.
She is preceded in death by her daughter KatieAnne Squire Price, her father James Chase, her mother Bonnie Burrows Young, her grandsons Jeremiah and Grayson Spackman, her sister-in-law Jackie Chase, and other beloved family members. We believe in a joyous reunion on the other side of the veil-with her daughter, her grandchildren, and the ancestors she so faithfully served.
Katherine's favorite phrase was: "Life just keeps getting better." And through her legacy of love, music, faith, and healing, it will.
