As they lay you to rest Joey, I have been reflecting on the memories that I have of you. When we were little, we were fast friends. I remember playing foosball in the basement or staying up late during a sleep over. You always had a way of making me laugh. Then you got sick, you never looked sick until you lost your hair, or the effects of the chemo took effect. That is when I started to put you in the hero category. You showed and taught me to have the resilience and perseverance. Then you continued to be a trooper by living life with pride and determination. I know you had your up and downs, but you still carried a torch to a better life. Being your cousin, I was and still am in awe of how you overcame illness and lived life. Please know that you are greatly missed, and I will remember you with a smile on my face. The angels have earned a great family member, friend, football player, writer, and a mentor. Spread you message of resilience Joey! May you rest in peace! Nikki
