John died June 23, 2022, at his home.
John Walter, son of Harvey James and Donna (Riel) Lechner was born November 4, 1983, at Ipswich, SD. He grew up in Leola, Faulkton, Aberdeen, and Redfield. He graduated from Redfield High School in 2003. He went to Job Corp in Custer, SD for a few years. He returned to Redfield where he worked at Dakota Tubing and Advanced Sunflower Seed. He then worked at Alpena Beef Processing in Alpena, SD. In 2012 he moved to Aberdeen and worked at the Ethanol plant near Mina and most recently for Aberdeen Shuttle as a driver.
John was a very giving and helpful person, always helping others. Spending time with his family was very important to him as he loved them all dearly. He loved his animals especially, his house pets. He was a collector of swords, knives, and medieval dragon figurines. He liked to watch science fiction medieval movies and enjoyed video gaming.
Grateful for having shared John's life are his mother, Donna Ryman of Redfield; sister, Janet (Dana) Heathman of Aberdeen and three brothers, James Harvey (Jennifer) Lechner of Oklahoma, and Jeff Lechner and Jerry Lee Lechner, both of Redfield.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, June Kay Lechner.
Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen has been entrusted with arrangements.
