George Pender was born to Joshua and Nettie Pender on January 23, 1951, in Braddock, PA. He was a son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many. After graduating from Braddock High School, George briefly enrolled at Fisk University before leaving to enter the Military. He served in the United States Army before enrolling as an Air Force reservist. Along with his military service, he worked numerous jobs including the United States Postal Service and Education Management Corporation, where he retired. If you know George, you know that he was an entrepreneur owning his own cleaning company and was a carpenter, doing woodwork and glasswork. Even in retirement, he continued to work, most recently at Amazon.
Having the heart to give and help others, Toys for Tots and Feed the Children were important causes to George and he regularly donated, even when he didn't have much to give.
George was a father to Yvette Royal, Yvonne McKinnon, and Josh Pender. He was one of seven children, preceded in death by his brother Joshua Pender Jr. and parents Joshua Sr. and Nettie Pender.
George is survived by his five sisters, Carolyn Ramsey, Mable Pender, Velouise Bell, Cynthia Pennywell, and Jewel Harris. Three grandchildren, Gerald Pender, Emmanuel Davis, and Brooklynn McKinnon, and a host of family and friends.
There will be a Memorial Service for the family Saturday, June 25 at 3:00 pm at House of Law Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations can be made to your favorite charity.

I worked with George at EDMC and was shocked to hear of his passing. He was kind and efficient. We often talked about retirement and I am sorry it was cut short for him. My prayers are with his family.

I just heard the news of Georges untimely passing yesterday on an EDMC alumni page and I am so very shocked and saddened. I have so many great memories of George throughout the years and I will truly miss his large presence, our group lunch outings, our laughs, company picnics and our many interactions and conversations weve shared. I am sending prayers of strength to your entire family at this time. He will be truly missed. He was a good man who worked really hard and was very passionate about his work and his family. Until we meet again George. Rest easy friend.

I hadn't seen any postings on Facebook from George a number of weeks and was heartbroken to learn of his passing. He was gentle but firm in his demeanor and always busy busy, never one to sit still. I am sure that he has a special place in glory.

I just learned about George passing. My heart aches. He and I kept in touch over the years since leaving EDMC. We had many long conversations while we worked together and loved his no nonsense personality! Rest In Peace my friend. I´ll miss our messaging.

Hi,

So sorry to hear about George. He was a wonderful man and took great pride in his job at edmc. During 911 there was the anthrax scare of it being sent in the mail. Well he was the guy you called if you suspected it. One morning I opened a package and thought I had been sent anthrax. I called him and he came up and said girl that's just paper dust from the envelope and gave a little chuckle. He was a good man and again very sorry for your loss i hope that little story gave you a little chuckle. Take care.

I am so sorry to hear of George´s passing. He was such a sweet and kind man. Always a smile, always helpful, and genuine. We worked together at EDMC he had made sure to get to know each person as they joined. He was a true gift. May God be with you all during this difficult time.
