Edsel Arrington Obituary

Edsel Clayton Arrington, aged 84, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025. Born on July 12, 1940, in Surry County, North Carolina, Edsel lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication.
Edsel's professional journey was marked by his steadfast commitment and passion for his work. For over 30 years, he served as a Facilities Manager at Sara Lee Hosiery, where his leadership and unwavering work ethic left an indelible mark on those he worked with. Later, he found fulfillment as the Building Manager at Oakridge Military Academy for over 15 years. His colleagues and friends always knew him as a man who loved what he did and inspired others to do the same.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Edsel found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A devoted fan of NASCAR and anything to do with cars, he often spent weekends immersed in the excitement of the race track. He cherished his travels to both the peaceful beaches and majestic mountains, finding solace and wonder in nature's beauty.
Edsel's taste in music leaned towards classic country tunes, and he delighted in watching "RFD," the Farm and Country Music Station. His friendly demeanor and great sense of humor made socializing in the grocery store or anywhere else a joyous occasion, as he was always ready to share a laugh and brighten someone's day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Arrington and Daisy Wood Arrington; his sister, Oprah Evans; his stepdaughter, Robin Pardue; and his son, Mickey Arrington. He leaves behind a loving family and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory: his daughter, Jill Arrington; his wife, Gerri Fox; his stepdaughter, Beverly White; and his best friend, John McCorquodale. Edsel is also survived by his companion dogs, "Tina" and "Sissy," who brought him immense joy and comfort.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public service held at this time. A private scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date, honoring his memory in a personal and meaningful way.
