Betty Jo "BJ" Adams, 75, of
Ashland, Kentucky, wife of Larry Adams, passed away following an extended illness with her loving family by her side at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia on Tuesday evening, August 20, 2024. She was born on Friday, June 10, 1949, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Etta Mae Pergrem Conley in
Ashland, Kentucky. Before her health failed, Betty Jo was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church in Russell, Kentucky. A passionate tennis player, Betty Jo found great pleasure on the courts, where her competitive spirit and love for the game shone brightly. She also had a deep love for travel, with Hilton Head, South Carolina, holding a special place in her heart as one of her favorite destinations. The holiday season was particularly dear to Betty Jo, who took great delight in decorating her home and hosting memorable Christmas parties, where friends and family gathered to share in the warmth of the season. Her love extended to her beloved Dobermans, whom she cared for with unwavering devotion. A proud supporter of the University of Kentucky, Betty Jo was an avid Wildcats fan, always cheering them on with enthusiasm – "Go Cats!" will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. Betty Jo's kindness, generosity, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Lon (Carol) Conley and Bob (Jane) Conley; and a niece, Pam (Dwight) Bailey. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Larry Adams; a brother, Mike (Dolores) Conley of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two sisters, Nancy (Jim) Osborne of Flatwoods, Kentucky; Janet (Joe) Malloy of Atlanta, Georgia; she poured in to the lives of her nieces and nephews Debbie (Mike) Mills, Greg (Beverly) Conley, Lon Wesley Conley, David (Lisa) Malloy, Tim (Angela) Malloy, Janice (Phillip) Dowdy, Robert Osborne (Emily Jones), Tina (James) McClure, Scott (Carly)Conley, and William Adams; and she adored her great and great-great nieces and nephews: Stacey (Anthony) Thompson children MariJo and Carson, Michael Mills children Dylan and Mika; Amy (Jay) Adkins children Lake and Summer; Matthew Bailey; Jenny (Josh) Bailey-Woods children June and Maverick; Luke (Gabrielle) Bailey and son Emmett; Rebecca Faith (Levi) Webb daughter Ameila; Jordan (Lauren) Conley daughters Blair and Violet; Rachel (Chet) Duke daughter Ivy; Kaitlyn (Caleb) Patterson daughter Isla; Cameron Malloy; Patrick Malloy; James Osborne; Kevin Osborne; Jennifer Mitchell children Evan, Kenzley, Hudson, Harper; Hannah Layman children Hazleigh, Zayden, and Layton; Tessa Mitchell; Sarah Mitchell; Leah (Chris) Hall children Jaycee, Bella, Charlee; Phillip Micheal Conley children Zander and Amira; Zoie Conley; and Carter Conley. Her brothers-in-law Bruce Adams, William "Roho" Adams, Jim (Susan) Adams, Jeff (Kristy) Adams, and Kenny Adams; and very special friends Erlene Balestrino and Becky Conaway. A funeral service will be held in her honor at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Miller Funeral Home with Pastors Duane and Monique Howard and Pastors Jay and Amy Adkins officiating.
