Annie Odessa Torrence Edmond was born on December 5th, 1936, in Concord, North Carolina. She was the second daughter of the late Buford and Bernice Lawing Torrence. Annie was educated in the Cabarrus County School System and was a member of Silverhill Primitive Baptist Church where she served on the usher board, young adult choir and culinary board. Annie worked in textiles for Cannon Mills Company and retired after more than 25 years of service. An avid cook, Annie was known for preparing delicious dishes and desserts for family and friends. Among the favorites were potato salad, collard greens, sweet potato pie and pineapple cake. However, her favorite activities was playing bingo, working puzzles and fishing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Odell I. Edmond, daughter Terri, son Odell Herman Edmond, Sr. She is survived by daughter Emily Edmond Freeman (Robert); daughter Martha Edmond Hagood; son John Kennedy Edmond, Sr. (Avis) all of Concord, North Carolina and Olivia Kimble and Rodney Kimble of Winston-Salem. Sisters Sadie Mae Torrence of Concord, North Carolina, Teresa Torrence-Tillman of Petaluma, California and special cousin Samuel A. Brockman of Concord, North Carolina.
Grandchildren: Santoria A. Edmond, Casey H. Townsend (Natalie), Robert M. Freeman II; Odell Herman Edmond, Jr., Erika C. Edmond, John K. Edmond, Jr., London E. C. Freeman, Jalin Edmond, Consuella Kimble and Christian Swinton of Winston-Salem. Great-grandchildren: Jatyrus Edmond, Uniqua Edmond, Mason Townsend, Kai Townsend, T. White (Arian), Darius White, Jayanna White, Malik White, Cameron Kirkland, Sean Kirkland and Jordan Woods.
