Alvin F. Panaccione, age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Barre, MA on December 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Eula and Attilio Panaccione. He grew up primarily in Barre, with a brief stint in Tampa, FL where his father built homes for a short period of time. After graduating from Barre High School, Alvin attended Northeastern University where he received his BS in Civil Engineering. He participated in the school's co-op program which eventually led him to Wilmington, DE where he went to work for the DuPont company. It was during this period, that Alvin met, dated, and eventually married the love of his life, the late Audrey Panaccione.

He loved telling everyone that the work co-op that was only supposed to last a very short while turned into a lifetime assignment. Perhaps meeting Audrey helped him to overcome Wilmington's hazy, hot, and humid climate, versus the cooler, more comfortable weather back home. As it turned out, Alvin had a lengthy and successful career with DuPont, eventually becoming an Engineering Project Manager, responsible for the successful completion of many construction assignments in the U.S. and Latin America. In addition to his engineering career, in pursuit of his true passion, Alvin was a stockbroker for several years.

After retiring from DuPont in 1985, Alvin, and his wife Audrey, built their dream retirement home on Terrapin Lane, in Newark, Delaware. He spent his time traveling, gardening, trading the stock market, and especially helping his adult children with numerous projects over the years. Once a Project Manager, always a Project Manager!

Family was the absolute most important thing to Alvin. He cherished every moment spent with his immediate and extended family. Like his father before him, Alvin measured the fullness of his life by what he was able to do to help those he loved and cared for.

Alvin is survived by his children and their spouses, Andrew and Deborah Panaccione, Adele and Vincent McIntosh, and Alan and Gayle Panaccione, his grandchildren, Grace and her husband Joe, AJ and his wife Shea, Bryan and his wife Amanda, and Connor, his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Luca, and Reagan, his brothers Douglas and Warren, his sister in-law, Elaine Hardenbergh, nephew Thomas Hardenbergh, as well his extended family and many other dear friends.

Services are private.
