Charles Herman Sides

Charles Sides, 67, of Midland, TX passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, after a battle with lung cancer.
Born in Kermit, to Ben and Wanda Sides, he attended local schools in Midland and graduated from Lee High School in 1974. He worked many years for the Southland Corporation, working, managing and troubleshooting for the Seven-Eleven stores.
He married Kay Marshall and together they adopted a son who they named Benjamin Charles (B.C.) Sides.
Charles was a member of the Serenity Group of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he found sobriety. He made many friends in the program. With his new lease on life and later double hip-replacements, he was able to go back to work at Key Energy as a dispatcher; visit and support senior citizens in nursing homes, and make pounds of his infamous peanut brittle and Chex Mix to give away at the holidays. He was very kind to many, and absolutely adored and spoiled his many dogs and cats.
As his health deteriorated due to a triple heart by-pass, his continued asthma from childhood evolving into COPD, and finally cancer, he was no longer able to be as active and that made him sad. However he was able to continue to work part time at night for the DoubleTree Hotel until 2021 and formed many lasting relationships there also. He with be dearly missed.
He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Becky; he is survived by his son B.C. and his sister Carol Staggs and her husband Roy; her children Preston and Alan Willis; his sister Becky's children Brandon and Bryan and Lisa Lee, and multiple grand-nieces and nephews.
