Barry Boccasile Obituary

Barry Boccasile
1958 - 2023
Agawam
We are sad to announce the passing of Barry Nicholas Boccassile. He was born in Agawam Massachusetts on December 13, 1958, and was the beloved son of the late Nino and Norma (DeLucchi) Boccasile.
He leaves behind family members and step- children, Zachary Landry of Houlton ME, and Erica (Landry) Murauski of Agawam, and his father's widow, Janet (Hibert) Boccasile. In addition, he will be missed by many cousins, aunts and uncles, and dear friends.
Barry was a 1976 Graduate of Agawam High School where he was in the school band and was friends with everyone from the band members to the football players. He then attended the Berklee College of Music and was a professional musician (drums and keyboard) who traveled worldwide with bands such as Musical Voyage, Dennis Dean and Touch of Class, Ben Vereen and Natalie Cole. He also worked entertaining the US troops at Hickam AFB in Honolulu in 1979.
He returned home to Western Massachusetts in 1983. Barry was a music teacher and professional musician (percussion), teaching percussion instruments and performing with Western Massachusetts bands.
In 1987 He went into real estate, obtaining his real estate brokers license in 1991. He worked at Coldwell Banker then finally found his home at Park Square Realty in 2002 where he was the Director of Growth and Development. He was a mentor to so many in the community and he was loved and respected by many real estate professionals.
From 1984-1987 he climbed the national bodybuilding ladder winning the 1985 New England Regionals, 1986 4th place in the Junior Mr. America, 1987 winner and overall,l in the Hudson Classic, and in the same year placed 6th in Mr. America. He then took a break and came back in 2001 and won the New England Championships in the Masters category then he won 3rd place in the Masters Nationals in 2002.
Barry also loved outdoor adventures and was an avid fisherman and hunter. When fishing He would always say "One More Cast" as he never wanted to leave.
Barry was a longtime advocate for people suffering from Lyme Disease. Having recovered from Lyme disease, he continued to be involved in facilitating others finding diagnosis and treatment. Barry was a champion to many people in the Lyme community by always being available to listen and provide gentle guidance. He will be sadly missed by those with Lyme he helped over the years.
Barry touched many people's lives over his lifetime, he helped and was admired by so many people, both on a personal level and a professional one. A quote from his social media said "I feel very grateful for my time on this planet and for all the special people that I've been fortunate to spend time with, my true friends are also like my family. Barry will be deeply missed by so many people. The Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barry's smile could light up a room. I worked with his dad, Nino, in the 70's when I used to bring my drum sticks to work. Nino said, "you're a drummer? You should meet my son, he's a drummer." The rest was history. I never met ANYONE who could sight read ELEVEN LINES! But his skill was second to his personality. So blessed to have called him a friend.

I was so shocked to see this today. I normally don´t look. Barry taught my son Kyle drumming for years. He was so patient and kind. My heart is sick at his passing. Way too soon. We have lost a very good man that will always be remembered.

My deepest sympathy to Barrys' family.
I was shocked and so saddened to learn of his passing.
I had the good fortune of knowing Barry since the 1970's when I met him through his father Nino, who was a friend of my father's and my uncles' who all hunted in Piermont New Hampshire.
I would also see Barry at gigs he was working in Western Ma. in the early days and always enjoyed listening to him play.
Barry and I had just spoken on line a few months ago.
Rest In Peace Barry and May God Bless.
