LIMA -- Doris Jean Sites, age 84 of Lima, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:28 pm, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Doris Jean was born May 31, 1941, in Lima, to Ortez and Arretta (McGinnis) Meyers who preceded her in death. On May 5, 1963, she married George Sites who preceded her in death on August 27, 2009.
Survivors include their children: Kenny Sites of Cridersville, Pam (Alan) Gerlach of Wapak, Jeff (Kathleen) Sites and Karen (Deron) Bailey both of Lima; grandchildren: Bradley Sites, Ashlynn (Ethan) Beidelschies, Dustin (Sydney) Gerlach, Marshall (Kaitlynn) Gerlach, Kacey (Cort) Merricle, Emily Sites, Zachary (Angela) Bailey, Jared (Maria) Bailey and Madison Bailey; great grandchildren, Rhett, and Bo Gerlach, Brooks Merricle, Blake Gerlach, Bonnie Bailey and 3 more on the way.
Preceded in death by a sister, Emma Jane Kilpatrick.
Doris was a member South Side Christian Church, She was a 1959 graduate of Lima Senior High School. She retired from Allen County Child Enforcement Agency. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, collecting bells and stuffed animals. Her favorite color was purple.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, in the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Rev. Andy Lauer to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 2-4, and 6-8 p.m., in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Friday.

I worked with Doris for many years. She was a (purple) force to be reckoned with. Her kindness, wit and sense of humor will long be remembered. We had so many laughs at the CSEA. I am so lucky to have known her. May she rest in peace.
