Robert Meade Obituary

Robert Griffith "Bob" Meade, age 84, passed away at his home on October 12, 2023. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Bob will be dearly missed. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is resting in peace with the Lord. Bob was born in Arizona on May 7, 1939 to Ruth Turner Meade and Frank Griffith Meade. He was raised in Long Beach, CA and attended Los Cerritos Elementary School, Hughes Middle School, and Long Beach Poly High School where he played on the Varsity golf team.

Bob loved outdoor sports, scouts, and his neighborhood friends. He learned to golf at age 10, later competing on the golf team for CU Boulder. Bob served in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord in Monterey, CA. He married Sarah "Lynne" Cowhick in 1961 and together they raised their family. Bob and Lynne were married for 61 very happy years.

Bob had a long and successful 37-year career with Johns Manville where he impacted the lives of many of his colleagues and customers. Following his retirement, he was able to enjoy many years of golf, travel, bridge, and family time. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard Meade and is survived by his wife, Lynne Meade; two daughters, Marcia [Tom] Tengan and Marian [Dave] Cummings; six grandchildren, Loren, Katherine, Shelley, Scott, Margaret, and Audrey; and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Kaiden. He was happiest with his family and loved them well.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Community United Methodist Church, 6652 Heil Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647
