John Wilson Obituary

John was born in Sioux City, Iowa May 5, 1955. He passed away Sept 14, 2023 at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, following a head injury from a fall, while on vacation in Alaska.
Growing up, John's family moved a lot as his dad looked for work. They lived in various states such as Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Northern California before settling down in Minnesota. John followed in his dad's footsteps, becoming a baker at the age of 15. He worked at Mister Donuts & Lund's in Minneapolis, MN.
He moved to Southern CA in 1978 and managed a Yum Yum Donut shop in La Cañada where he met his future wife. He became a "Hughes Guy" from 1979 to 1993 when he joined the bakery team at Hughes Markets in Van Nuys. He had to leave the bakery business due to health concerns and became a stay-at-home Dad.
He began exploring the world of technology, graduating with honors from Ameritech College in 1995. He began building and repairing computers and volunteered in the computer lab at Darby Elementary School where his son John attended. He never lost his love for baking and continued to bake treats for family, friends, doctors' offices and grocery clerks.
For the past 13 years he loved playing Santa Claus for his wife's union Christmas party as well as baking some of the treats that were served. He also maintained their website.
He enjoyed vacationing, especially cruising, with dreams of cruising all over the world. Over the past few years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Australia, New Zealand, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland and the UK.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tia Catherine (Gibson) Wilson, their two Sons Michael John Wilson and John Curtis Wilson, his Mom Mary Ann (Brazier) Wilson, Sister Deborah Sue (Wilson) Robertson, and Brother Patrick Randall Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his Dad Jackie Coy Wilson and Brothers Michael Allen Wilson and Timothy Lee Wilson.
