AUBURN - Sharon Kay Harrold (Wilson), 80, passed away suddenly on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. Sharon was living with vascular dementia and was well taken care of by her devoted oldest daughter, Jackie, and the staff at The Astral Memory Care and Heartland Hospice.
Sharon was born to Ollie Fern (Houser) Wilson and Ralph Linden Wilson in their home in Butler, Indiana, on June 26, 1943. She often mentioned how she was spoiled by her six older siblings and loved being the baby of the family.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Charlotte Wilson and Francis Groff Bourquin; and brothers, Darrell Wilson and Arthur Wilson.
She is survived by her brother, Kendall Wilson and sister, Jean Hilton.
Sharon married Larry Alan Harrold on June 17, 1972. They resided in Butler, Indiana, where they enjoyed their family and circle of mischievous friends, and were able to do a lot of traveling together until Larry's death in 2010.
Sharon worked hard in physically demanding jobs to make the best life for her family, and was employed at Cooper Tires for 13 years and Bostwick Braun for 18 years.
As evidence of her tenacity, after suffering a massive heart attack and triple bypass surgery at age 50, she went on to live a healthy and joyful 30 more years. Sharon was always happiest when her children and grandchildren were all together and she was never shy about telling a stranger how lucky she was to have such a wonderful family.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Colleen Hantz; son-in-law, Wesley J. Hantz; granddaughter, Whitney Colleen Hantz; grandson, Wade Andrew Hantz; great-grandson, Koltyn Quinn Hantz; daughter, Yvette Renee Harrold; granddaughter, Leyla Cristine O'Lenic; and granddog, Hank.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Alan Harrold; and son-in-law, Timothy David O'Lenic.
A memorial service will be held at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main St., Auburn, on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at 11 a.m.
Visitation with the family will be one hour before service from 10-11 a.m.
Sharon's ashes will be interred with her husband Larry's, at Woodlawn Cemetery, following the service.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Sharon's name to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org.
