Karin Reel Obituary
Karin L. Reel, 81, of East Hartford passed away on October 15, 2023. Karin was born in Hartford, CT on October 11, 1942, daughter of the late Hildegard and Donald Macdonald.
Karin was an intelligent and independent woman who stoically managed her life despite facing multiple health issues. She earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in music from the University of Wisconsin. Karin had a deep love for music, was a talented pianist and taught piano for many years. She especially enjoyed the Metropolitan opera on TV or in a local theater.
Karin was a faithful parishioner of the New Covenant United Methodist Church. When homebound she found solace watching the daily Roman Catholic mass on TV. Karin's commitment to her faith was unwavering.
Karin is survived by her sister Eleanore M. Kepler of Manchester and several out-of-state nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, George Randolph Macdonald (Randy) of Colorado.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 16 Church Street, East Hartford, CT with a light reception for family and friends to follow in the lower church hall. Memorial donations may be made to the New Covenant United Methodist Church.

I had the pleasure of knowing Karin for a number of years. I was a CT Transit bus operator from 1977- 2020 and recall having many wonderful conversations with her.
My sincere condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.
