Helen Hoyle Leatherman, 87, of Lincolnton, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at her residence.
She was born April 21, 1935, in York County, S.C., to the late Loy Edgar Hoyle and Mary Blackwood Hoyle. Helen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton for more than 50 years and active with the senior groups. Helen, along with her husband, was the owners and operators of Leatherman Septic Service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde Hoyle, James Hoyle, Bobby Hoyle and Kenneth Hoyle; and sister, Frances Norman.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 69 years, Harvey Leatherman of the home; son, Gary Leatherman and wife, Kathy of Lincolnton; daughters, Karen Leatherman of Lincolnton, Lisa "Kim" Parker and husband, Barry of Lincolnton; sister, Doris Duckworth of Vale; sisters-in-law, Becky Hoyle of Vale, Renee Hoyle of Vale and Christine Cloninger of Claremont; grandchildren, Kandra, Matt, Amanda, Cole, Stephanie, Katy and Codey; great-grandchildren, Riley, Reagan, Cooper, Karlee, Harper, Allie, Kaiden and Waylon.
A service to celebrate Helen's life will be held Wednesday, June 22, at 4 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church in Newton. The Rev. Nathan Yoder will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton. Those serving as pallbearers are Cole Leatherman, Riley Leatherman, Cooper Johnson, Matt Speagle, Codey Parker, Terry Ratts and Josh Burris.
