David "Dickie" Dixon Davidge Jr. age 77, passed away on October 20th, 2023 at his home in Hammond, La.
Dickie was born on October 12, 1946, to the late David Dixon Davidge Sr. and Rumsie Martin Davidge. As a lifelong resident of Hammond he spent decades dedicating his life to serve the community he loved so much. He had a strong entrepreneurial spirit that went hand in hand with his desire to serve the community. He started multiple businesses over the years in Hammond. In addition, he served 12 years in the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office under Frank Edwards Sr. He later became the first public safety commissioner for the city of Hammond. He was one of the founders of the Tangipahoa Parish Water District and served as a board member over a decade. His love for aviation led him to obtain his pilot license and eventually own his own plane. He also served on the Hammond Airport board for years. He was also one of the founding members of the Manchac Boating Association. He loved St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He spent countless hours improving the campus and stayed heavily involved with advancing the athletic programs. Dickie loved nature and was happiest surrounded by family and friends on North Pass. Despite all he accomplished in the community, Dickie's greatest success was his love and devotion to his family. He will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Sandra Cieslewicz Davidge; sister, Sherry Davidge Burke (George "Skipper" Burke); children, Genie Davidge Tisdale, Craig Davidge, David Dixon Davidge III (Nicole), Johnathan Trevor Davidge (Sarah); grandchildren, Dr. Heather Tisdale Penton (Josh), Michelle Tisdale, Nicole Tisdale, Aaron Davidge, Dr. Trent Davidge, David Dixon Davidge IV, Maison Belle Davidge, George William Davidge, Henry Stone Davidge; great-grandchildren, Silhou Tisdale, and Acie Penton.
