I woke up this morning thinking of Bill and Patty. I´m so very sorry to discover that Bill has passed. We were neighbors on Angelwing for almost 20 years. I´m sorry we didn´t know until now. We definitely would have paid our respects to this wonderful man. He was always with a smile on his face and this is the way I choose to remember him. Our deepest DEEPEST condolences to Patty, the boys and all the grandchildren for losing such a wonderful soul.

Dear Patti and family
I am so sorry for this late post, I did not know Billy had passed and I am so sorry for your loss .. in 1967 when I was just 15 years old my dad took me to Cole’s, he was a friend of Bill’s dad and bought me this Gibson guitar. I still have it and it is one of my most treasured possessions for many reasons. Billy and I became friends over the years and I can’t even remember how much music stuff he sold me, but it was a lot. I never met a better human being or friend the loss of this very good man is not only yours, but to our entire community deepest sympathies.

The most honest and straightforward guy in the business. You always knew he would treat you fairly - with Mr.Cole there never was a single instance of unfairness or taking advantage of the customers. Truly amazing. In the harsh competitive business that he was in, to remain a caring human being is such a rarity. Frederick has lost a part of its identity with Mr. Cole´s passing. He will be missed but the example of decency and kindness he set will live on.

Painfully, I just learned of Bill's passing. It is difficult to put into words how sad I am...just like everyone has written before and more, Bill was such significant person and friend. In many ways he was a touchstone in my life. My prayers for his family to help lift their hearts so that their pain will lessen. My condolences to everyone who shares this loss.

To Bill's family. I am so sorry for your loss. I first me Bill when I was about 15 in 1974. He sold me my first stereo and I still have it! He was friends with my Dad, Bubby and called him Sarge (Frederick City Policeman). He and dad are in heaven now and reminiscing about the good times in Frederick. Bill was "salt of the earth", truly touching everyone he met, and will be missed by all of us. God bless.

I really miss Bill and his wonderful, ALWAYS smiling, pleasant and warm personality. There is nobody who met Bill who didn’t like him. Not possible! I had many years of playing poker with Bill, and when he got serious you knew he had something and you better tread lightly. Lol! He knew how to play, that’s for sure. Bill was a kind soul who never said a bad word about anyone, even when they deserved it. He was truly one of the good people in this crazy, crazy world. So glad I saw him twice in the last few months. He was in the midst of his battle and was cheerful even then. RIP, my friend! God bless Patty and the whole family.

Bill made us feel so welcome when we first came to Frederick and remembered us 10 years later when we came back. His smile and warm greeting to us every single time we came in the shop, made the trip to town worth it just for that kindness. Bill was a light, in the life of Frederick, and it was a privilege to know him. He is missed.

Just got a call from our friends @ Coles Pawnbrokers in Fredrock Md. We have been going there & bought our 1st piece of jewelry in 1983, even before we were married. They have become not only friends over the years, but like family. The entire family has been so kind in all these years. That's why Shirley & I always went to them in downtown, & Thurmont. These people were real. not like the phony people nearly every place else. Luckily I was just up there in May of this year to see them. These days when something tells me go see someone, I don't hesitate. Might be the last chance. As with all good people in this world, he will be missed. His memories will last forever.

Dear Patty and Family. I am so sorry to hear of Bill´s passing. I have known Bill since 8th grade at WFJH. He was such a good man and never without a smile. Bill was Frederick´s Will Rogers one of a kind. He cared so much about our community and family. I remember when he and his band played at the old Holiday Inn lounge fun times. The next time you hear thunder that´s just Bill, Johnny and Senator Thomas making strikes with the angels in heaven. R.I.P old friend with love Jenny and family

I remember Bill from the moment he was born. He was my first cousin, born shortly after my 9th birthday. He was a delightful child and after a few years, I started babysitting for him and his sister, Diane, weekly. We were a close knit family and lived just a block from one another at Linden Hills. He and my brother, Eddie, were best buddies and Bill, or Billy as he was known then, had wonderful times together. He was always good natured and happy go lucky. I haven't seen him for quite a while , but, have never forgotten him. Fly high Sweet William till we meet again.
