Bruce Simons Obituary

Bruce Merwin Simons, 88, husband of Marta Murrie for 54 years, passed away on October 23, 2023. He is the son of the late Roland F. and Marjorie Merwin Simons of Naples, FL & Plainfield, NJ. A kind, deeply spiritual, life-long learner and teacher, he graduated from The Hill School, '54 Pottstown PA, and Lehigh University '58, had a career in sales; the last 25 years of which was electronic security systems. He was President of The Holy Family Retreat in W. Hartford, CT and active in Cursillo Program. He found success and deep purpose in the second half of his life in donating time and fundraising for charities, particularly youth-oriented. He was on the Boards of the Boys' and Girls' Club of Chester PA, and Tucson AZ, and Chester County Trail Club, active volunteer at both Jenkins Arboretum, and Wharton Esherick Museum, and a member of Saints Peter and Paul, West Chester. Hobbies included gardening, reading, tennis, hiking and back packing on the "AT". Survivors include sons Michael of East Petersburg PA, and Scott of Morris IL, and grandsons Nathan and Joshua. Celebration of his life will be held on November 4.
