Edward Martino Obituary

GLASCO - Edward P. Martino, III, 50, of Liberty St. Ext. died Saturday, November 11, 2023 surrounded by his family. Born December 19, 1972 in Kingston he is the son of Edward Martino, Jr. and the late Catherine Zates. Eddie Martino was a lifelong resident of Glasco whereas as a child he could be found in the fields riding anything with tires, tracks, or skis. He was born with a passion for powersports which stuck with him until the day of his passing. From changing the oil in his motorcycles on his family's kitchen table to going to bed at night in his "Kawasaki" green bedroom his love for speed and power never wavered. As a teenager, Ed raced snowmobiles for the Franks Hunting lodge team and traveled near and far with his father to compete and often win competitions. Eddie brought his love for motorsports with him into adulthood and as he grew so did his toy collection. It was always known in the community that if it was new, shiny, and fast than you could probably find it in Eds garage. Eddie loved to bring his hobbies with him into the Adirondacks where he spent many winters with family and friends snowmobiling and riding side by sides in the warmer months, he was able to build his dream home in Brantingham, NY where he made new friends who became like family, and he could be found every weekend in his later years. Eddie got his start in business doing construction with Bill Buchanan Jr. before going to work for Northeast Solite, as a determined man he started and ran his own business simultaneously and often worked the night shift at Solite just to come home and run his business during the day. Before long Martino's landscaping and excavating was born and he decided to work solely for himself which he did successfully for the rest of his life. Eddie was known in the business world as an honest man which was important to him above all else, the pride of his work and attention to detail shone through in every job that he completed and in the condition of every piece of equipment that he owned. Ed was the first to do a favor for anybody and offer work to anybody in need, he used his business as not only a way to make a living but also to better the lives of everybody around him. In that spirit he was an active member of the Glasco Fire Department. Eddie loved his family above all else. As a proud husband, father, son, uncle, and pop pop he was fiercely protective and was the one who you could count on if you needed a problem solved. Ed was trustworthy and everyone knew that they could go to him without judgement. He was a great friend and had so many people that loved him. This was displayed in his final days when the Martino room at Vassar hospital was repeatedly asked by hospital staff to disband after continuously breaking the maximum occupancy by 5 times the allowable limit. His last days were spent at home surrounded wall to wall with people who loved him. Eddie loved life, he lived every day on his own terms and will be fondly remembered by all, his memory will live on through his family and friends who will continue to tell stories and relive memories made together. Besides his father of Saugerties, survivors include his wife, Kerry, two daughters: Brittany (Ray) Mendock of Saugerties and Marissa Martino (Matt Horvers) of Glasco. A beloved grandson: Tucker Mendock, His paternal grandparents: Edward and Mary Martino, a sister Shanna (Rich) Pesce, his nephews Tanner and Corey Pesce and a dear aunt, Dina (PJ) Cafaldo of Glasco. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Mandy Kelder and Dr. Bob Martin for going above and beyond and showing so much devotion to Eddie and his family during their time of need. His Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Glasco Fire Department, PO Box 157, Glasco, NY 12432 Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family on Eddie's Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
