John Wilson Obituary

John Lynn Wilson, 75, of Montrose, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.
John Lynn Wilson was born February 28, 1949 in Clinton, Mo., the son of Clive Floyd Wilson and Nell (Burkhalter) Wilson. He grew up west of Clinton on the family farm where he continued to farm until his death.
He was class president of the Clinton High School, class of 1967. He attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. On May 1, 1971 John married his wife of 53 years, Deborah Dulany Dehn.
John served in the Missouri Army National Guard, 1139th MPCo. Through the years he served on the Davis Township Road Board, Davis R-12 School Board, Farmers Elevator Board, and Hopewell Cemetery Board. John was a past Ag Person of the Year and was a 53 year member of the Clinton Elks Lodge, #1034. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton.
John liked to fabricate pieces and parts of his own machinery. Many colorful conversations from both the young and old went on around John's fabricated barn stove. John was an avid reader and enjoyed watching a good western on TV. He enjoyed spending time on his boat at Stockton Lake. Sunday drives, a cold Bud Light, and peanut M&M's were among his favorite things. An annual trip to the Kansas City farm show with his sons and friends was a special event for John. His sons can attest that Big John really liked and demanded a good clean windshield. John loved his sons and their families. His favorite saying was "watch out".

John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Nell Wilson; sister, Janet Albright, Orlando, Florida; and brother, William B. Wilson, Clinton, Mo.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie; son, Wesley Dehn Wilson (Emily), son, William Robert Wilson (Sarah); grandchildren, Dawson Dehn Wilson, Linden Lou Wilson, George Wesley Wilson and Scott John Wilson; sister, Jewel Gay Lord; and brother, Robert N. Wilson.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church. A celebration will be at the Clinton Elks Lodge directly following the memorial service. Mr. Wilson will lie in state from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Private family burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Montrose, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hopewell Cemetery or the Clinton Future Farmers of America, (FFA), Clinton, Mo., school farm project. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home.

John was my oldest friend. My first memory of him was as children around three and four years old. Our families were close friends. John was as kind and honest of a man as you will ever find. He ran the Angle farm many, many years as if it were his own. Heaven is a brighter place with John´s smiling face there. My deepest sympathy to Debbie and all his family. John leaves a legacy of love, hard and honest work and family values that is to be admired. RIP dear John. You will be missed.
