Roger Spradlin Obituary

It is hard to believe that almost a year has past. Pastor Roger is still with us through the preaching and teaching of his sons Matt and Andrew and son-in-law Brian. They are continuing his legacy through their inspired words from our Lord by teaching us through scripture as their dad did. You will be forever in my heart.

Words fail me in expressing my feelings toward Roger and Ginger. One memory, among many, is when he officiated Trudy´s funeral. I told him not to wear a tie as he and Ginger were family, his first words to the congregation? I´ve never NOT worn a tie doing a funeral! Got quite the laugh and I loved it and him. Peace and blessings to Ginger and family.

Pastor Roger was and always will be special. To us one of a kind. Gods blessing to this troubled old world. Know that we constantly pray for God's healing for Ginger and the family and His continued blessing for them. We are merely pilgrims here and look to the time we will reunite with those who have gone on before. All in God's own time.

Sending my love to the entire family. When I first came to Bakersfield Pastor Roger made me feel so welcome and that is something I will never forget.

I joined Valley Baptist due to Pastor Spradlin's message in 2009 and became a member till 2018 when I relocated to Las Vegas. He was the most amazing Pastor, I always felt each message was just for me every Sunday.
He had a way about him to deliver to u just what u needed when he gave his sermon.
May he rest in peace.

Pastor Roger changed my walk with Jesus , I will cherish the notes from many years of his teachings and application over the years. I hold onto many many sermons on lose as he lost his beautiful baby girl many years ago, and I lost my baby girl, although an adult when she left us, his teachings on faith through trials are my go too on the hard hard days of grief. I´m so thankful to have your many teaching notes to have for life, and to pass down to my grandchildren one day. Thank You for being such a beautiful, real life servant for Jesus Pastor!! I know your so so happy reunited with your baby girl now.

Pastor Roger had such a great impact on our lives when we start attending Valley Baptist Church In 1990. Pastor Roger was a wonderful Pastor He taught the word line by line He encouraged us to study the word as well. Pastor Roger not only talk the talk but he walked the walk. To say he will be missed as an understatement. Our loss is heaven's gain. I will always be grateful for Pastor Roger´s boldness to preach the Gospel. He was so compassionate, and loving towards others. He loved God with all his heart, and he loved others. He was a true example of what it means to be a follower of Christ. I will miss you very much, Pastor Roger, but I will see again in heaven.

Pastor Roger was the only pastor that I truly learned from. Have listened to a lot of them and I came back to Valley because of Pastor Rogers teachings he was Great! Will miss him greatly

Some preachers leave a lasting impression long after they have passed over to eternity with Jesus. Charles Spurgeon, Billy Sunday, Billy Graham, and Roger Spradlin among them. His preaching was clear and comprehensive; his life, and that of his wife and children, were fine examples of a committed, faith-filled life. I don´t think there is anyone who knew him who isn´t grieving the loss. But we can praise God he is with Jesus and his faith is by sight now. And that he left us with Andrew and Matthew and Brian. All fine preachers in their own right. Nobody will ever be Pastor Roger. But we come mighty close with the Pastors at Valley Baptist. My sincere sympathy to all of his family and to Pastor Phil, his friend, and a legend himself.

Pastor Roger, was one of the best pastors I have ever heard preach, even from several years ago I still remember some of his old sermons, and he was just such an nice guy. I will miss him, but I know he is in a better place now. I will pray for his family as well, I pray for the best for you guys.

Thank you Pastor Roger for your mentorship and shepherding our church. It has been an honor to be a member of Valley for so many years under your leadership. We will miss you but also rejoice in the fact that you are in our Saviors arms. We love you Pastor. Well done!

I have watched Pastor Roger's video from the Men's event on June 26, 2023 several times and will continue to do so.
His brave words from the depth of his heart were loving and wise and will be forever tattooed onto my heart.
The dying can teach us priceless lessons about how to live.

My heart aches for the loss that Pastor Rogers family is suffering through at this time. They were all so blessed to share a small amount of time on this earth with such a great man if God. I am so glad that they all know that they will someday spend the rest of eternity with Roger and the Lord that he was such a good and faithful servant of.

Roger was the best Pastor you could ever ask for, he was such a blessing to the church and the community. Even though my wife and I moved to Oregon and to Tennessee we watched him regularly on the internet, we considered him our Pastor no matter where we were. The whole world will assume a lose but God will gain a blessed child. At last he will be with his daughter.

I´m so blessed to have had you as my family´s Pastor you and Ginger came to the hospital immediately when our daughter Emily had her accident and visited several times and prayed over her will will be united again in Heaven

When my son died in 98 I wanted to die I was taken to talk with Pastor about my son. He restored my faith. My son had cancer then after suffering for 3 yes. He shot his self. So thank God for Pastor. We lost a very special person. God Bless all of you.

It was a blessing that Pastor Roger was our pastor for the last 13 yrs.
I remember a graveside ceremony decades ago that Roger led. He equated the casket of a follower of Jesus as a hope chest, as our hope is in Jesus. Praying for Ginger, the family, and our church.

Thank you Pastor Roger for your love of teaching the Word and for being a faithful follower of our Lord. You will be missed.
