Robert Norris Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" WAYNE NORRIS

1942 - 2023

Bob was born in Montebello, CA on November 14, 1942, to parents Charles Homer Norris and Mildred Millie Norris and moved to Bakersfield with his family at a young age. He attended Standard School and graduated from North High School in 1960. Bob worked after high school to pay for his education at Bakersfield College and Fresno State. He was drafted to the Army in 1967 but was given a three month stay to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration before reporting to Fort Lewis for duty. After the military, Bob moved back to Bakersfield where he started his successful career with Cal Cot. Ltd., and climbed the ladder to become the President of Cal Cot. Bob met and married Donna Congdon in 1970 and started their family in 1972. While raising their family, Bob and Donna traveled the world during his 40 plus years working for Cal Cot. They also spent a lot of time on the coast at their retirement home where they entertained and welcomed many friends and family.

Bob was preceded in death by his father Homer Norris, his mother Millie Norris, his brother Don Norris, his brother-in-law Gerry Congdon, and his loving wife Donna Norris of 40 years. He continued to live his life to the fullest and met his longtime companion Linda Walker and they enjoyed spending time together doing things they loved. Bob continued with his love for agriculture and was a current Board of Directors member for Pandol Bros., Inc. The most treasured highlights of Bob's life were spending time with his family and friends, being proud of all his grandchildren and their accomplishments, as well as having a passion for fishing and hunting with his long-time childhood friends.

Bob is survived by his children, son David Norris and wife Leah, daughter Krista Twist and husband Jeff, and 5 grandchildren, Jared Norris and wife Rene, Tayler Duncan, Mason Norris, Tristan Twist and Toby Twist. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Norris and Geri Congdon, many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss his wonderful smile and generous and open heart. Pallbearers will be Jared Norris, Tayler Duncan, Mason Norris, Jeff Twist, Tristan Twist, Toby Twist and Troy Etter.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest, 2739 Panama Ln.
