Ronald Ring Obituary
Ronald Joseph Ring died at home, in Hospice Care, after a long and courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Cambridge Ma, the sixth of nine children. His parents, Richard and Frances Ring emigrated from Ireland, met and married in Cambridge and raised their family there. Ron graduated from Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge, then joined the Marines, served for six years, two of those in the prestigious Presidential Guards for President Eisenhower. After discharge, he became a Cambridge Fire Fighter, retiring in 1998 after 32 years, as Lieutenant. He and his wife retired to
Yarmouthport MA where they spent many wonderful days enjoying all that Cape Cod offered and welcomed family and friends for gatherings, celebrations and vacations.
Ron was an avid golfer, achieving 10 holes in one through the years. He won many golf awards along the way, on his own or as part of a team. His final golfing achievement was to win the 2022 Senior Championship for golfers over age 80, here at the Seven Lakes Golf course in Fort Myers, Florida. We were snowbirds to Fort Myers FL for 18 years before moving here full time in 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ernestine Ring, his daughter Kathryn Todd of Sandown, NH, who provided all the nursing care during his last week at home, his son, Richard Ring who lives in Hawaii, his stepsons, Jonathan Fortier and wife Aimee of Weymouth, MA, and Jason Fortier of Fort Myers, his two surviving sisters, Frances Christo of N Attleboro MA and Carol Lynde of Billerica MA.
We are blessed with 10 grandchildren: Michaela Todd Verhault, Camden Todd, Richard Ring, Ryan Ring, Kaitlyn Ring, Samantha Ring, Brandon Fortier, Ashlyn Fortier, Cameron Fortier and Chloe Fortier, of whom we
are so proud. Plus the newest additions of great grandchildren: Julian Guarino, Thailyn Todd, Weston Todd, Saylor Todd, Luca Ring, Elaine Ring and very soon, baby boy Verhault. Ron was so
excited by all the new additions. He was preceded in death by six siblings: Dennis, Merle, Richard, John, Michael Kevin and also his parents, Dick and Fran.
A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date in New Hampshire
