Renee Michelle Smith-Woodson, was born on June 21, 1954, to Lauree Rogers and Olin Smith in Miami, FL.
She was educated in the Miami-Dade Public School System, attending Carol City Middle School and Norland High School. She furthered her education at Florida Memorial University and Broward Theological University, earning her Masters Degree and HBIU class of 2021 earning her Doctoral Degree.
Renee accepted Christ at an early age and was united with the First Born Church of The Living God. She later served as Senior Pastor of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Mims, Florida.
Renee met and married Horace Woodson, Jr., in Titusville, Florida and immediately extended her family with three bonus children.
She was employed by Albert Funeral Home for 4 years and Florida Power & Light for 37 years retiring in 2009. Renee was a recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling with family and friends and sewing in her younger years. She also Loved decorating for the holidays, especially for Christmas when she would create beautiful Christmas bows.
Renee entered into the sunset of life on Monday, November 11, 2024, as she said goodbye to this world of sufferings and pain. She was preceded in death by her father, Olin Smith; mother, Lauree Rogers, brother, Olin Charles; her former husband and her daughter's father, Clarence Dixon; her husband, Horace Woodson, Jr., sisters-in-law, Joyce Woodson and Jackie Woodson.
Renee's quiet strength, and her loving grace, Will forever be etched, in the hearts of those who knew her face. May her soul rest peacefully, in the arms of the divine, and may her loved ones find comfort, in the memories they hold so fine. Farewell, our dear Renee, your legacy will live on, A shining star that will forever be sung, your quiet strength will be remembered.
Renee is survived by two daughters, Larianna Smith-Dixon and India Smith; 3 bonus children, Aretha Woodson, Horace Woodson, III and Shawanda Woodson; two sisters, Edna McGuire and Lisa Smith-Kelly, 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; godson, Ian Michel Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 1:00 until 6:00PM at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, FL 34475.
Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Renee Smith-Woodson will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00am, at Greater Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 1865 NW 42nd St, Ocala, FL 34475.
