Tim Lane was one of the finest people I had the pleasure of knowing while at Barnett Banks of Florida. When someone retired from the bank Tim would give a beautiful gold three leaf clover with an Irish verse on the back. I still have mine and I retired 33 years ago ! He was thoughtful in that way.
May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Timmy Lane was a wonderful growing-up friend. Malinda and I started hanging around him in 1949 at St. Joseph's Academy. Timmy and Charlie Unser were best buds for life. The last time we saw Timmy was at Charlie's funeral in Orlando where Timmy and I had the honor of presenting the gifts at his Mass.
In the early 1950s when most of the boys were sitting on the cold, metal rail in front of the church at the corner of King and St. George streets, Charlie was working as an usher at the Matanzas Theater and Timmy was probably working at the Gulf filling station. Timmy always had a friendly smile. There wasn't a mean bone in his body. While some ruffians, not I or my friends of course, were rolling cannon balls down the Bridge of Lions or setting a palm tree on fire, Timmy was either working or studying. (I put studying in there for the kids and grand-kids and I might be fudging a bit).
We went to sports events, dances and beach parties together. We participated in all those things available before I-phones, I-pads, Twitter and Instagram. We spent hours sitting in cars at Russell's Bar B Que on San Marco Drive talking about everything. On the better nights we were lucky to have our girlfriend next to us at a place where their parents considered a safe place to be a teenager. It was.
Timmy and Faye were soulmates and always will be. When I think about the two of them I smile knowing that they gave each other the best hours, days and years of their lives. The joy of raising a loving family was the reward they got from giving unconditional love. The rich, deep feeling that parents enjoy watching their children mature is hard to put in words. If Timmy was like the rest of us octogenarians, he had some very sweet moments thinking about his journey and how much love he got from Faye and gave to Faye and the children.
God knows Timmy had some tough times, but who on this earth doesn't have tough times? Timmy was an Irish Catholic. He was a believer like so many of us. I hope he is in the warm love of God as I write this and I pray that he and Faye are together.
Malinda and I send our deepest condolences. We pray that Timmy's soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace. Amen.

I was so sorry to hear of Tim's passing. He is now at peace and is back with your Mom. When I first met him, I liked him - he had a great smile and a real twinkle in his eyes. You all have my deepest sympathy in this time of great loss.

May the Lord be with you Tim.
We remember you and your wife of your visits at your father-in-law's Independent Luncheon Club's dinners long ago. Fun times.
Bless you.
