Warren was a respected member and supporter of the Invercargill RSA, and through that, a friend of my late father. We always met up on ANZAC Day, and often in the RSA Clubrooms. Warren was guest speaker at the Invercargill RSA's Centennial in 2017. It was a pleasure to have visited him recently for his own Centennial, along with RSA President Norm Wilson. Ken Bowie, on behalf of Invercargill RSA.

To Dear Freda, It is with great sadness that we learn of Warren's passing. Such fond memories of your trips to Taranaki, staying with Mum and Dad on the farm. The most wonderful friendship and camaraderie that formed with Warren and Dad in the Battle Fields of War and stories told continued with many 27th Battalion Reunions attended both in the North and South. I had the privilege of being in their company for many a north stay, and fond memories of trip south with mum. The regular phone calls back and forth with Mum much appreciated, always asking of the welfare of family. With our Sincerest Condolences and deepest Sympathy, thinking of you Freda, with all our love, from Dawn Coleman, Julie, Murray, Colleen and family.

So sorry to loose Warren so soon after celebrating his 100 th birthday. We were highly privileged to spend some very special hours with Warren and greatly inspired by his great vitality at the time. I have great memories of Warren dating back to Georgetown cricket club where he gave so much encouragement, his support for Nui and I with our engagement ring and the times spent with him and Freda at their Wanaka home.
More recently I have enjoyed greatly a part of his life about which I was less familiar. This was his service to our country in wartime Italy. His recollections made wonderful reading.
Rest In Peace dear Uncle. You have done so much to ensure we can enjoy this peace

A life well lived and lived to the full.A man so interested in what was going on in his extended family right to the end of his life.Phone calls and cards each year and even at the age of 99 I had the privilege of receiving a card from Uncle Warren and Aunty Freda.

It was so sad to hear that Uncle Warren has passed.
I am Margaret, Uncle Warren's brother Cuth's daughter.
Over the years I have enjoyed many special times with Uncle Warren and Aunty Freda and in more recent years making special trips from Blenheim to see them.
Uncle Warren was an amazing person, kind, caring and humble. An inspiration to us all. He embraced life right to the end.
I was fortunate to be able to spend time with Uncle Warren before his 100th birthday as I arrived a few days earlier.Over cake and coffee we enjoyed interesting discussions on many topics especially the origin of the Warburton name. He always had the water boiled and coffee cups ready. Amazing.
Uncle Warren loved Bluff oysters as did I and a wonderful memory from many years ago is of Uncle Warren and I eating 12 battered oysters each.
I believe he enjoyed a meal of oysters recently but was unwell at night. Too many oysters perhaps.
Uncle Warren will be missed very much but his achievements and inspiration will never be forgotten.
Rest in Peace Uncle Warren.

Warren Warburton, 2nd NZEF Machine Gunner 634820. 27th Infantry Battalion. Deepest sympathy and condolences to Freda and to Warren's family. He had the most accurate recall of any person I had met. All the sizes, weights and quantities of ammunitions used in all his battles overseas. A well respected Veteran of our trip to Italy 2004. A perfect gentleman. A pleasure and privilege to have known him. Forever in my heart and memory. God Bless. (Author, Return to Monte Cassino.)
