Donald Oscar Munda, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, in Tucson, AZ.
Son of the late Mary Love and Oscar Munda, Don was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. A graduate of Wilmington Friends School and Colgate College, he served in the United States Army during World War II as a first lieutenant in the Air Corps. He flew over 300 missions in the China-Burma-India Theatre, more than half of which were in combat for cargo delivery dropped by parachute, and he was distinguished with the Flying Cross and American Theater Ribbon. Don enjoyed many years boating with his family and friends on the Elk River, as well as off the coast of FL, while he and his wife lived in Ft. Lauderdale. In his later years, he lived in Tucson, AZ, where he was predeceased by his wife, Anne Peoples Munda, in 2005. Don will be remembered as a wonderful father and grandfather, who was lovingly referred to as "Captain Fun".
He is survived by his brother, Jack Munda, of FL; son, D. Ted Munda; daughter and son-in-law, Skyanne and Mack; all of who reside in Tucson, AZ; and a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Graham and Samantha Munda, of Wilmington, DE.
Interment will be private.
