MEMPHIS, Mo. — Tommy Adolphus Bagwell, 82, of Memphis, MO, formerly of Easley, SC, stepped out of this world and into the arms of his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2025.
He was born in Liberty, SC on June 14, 1943, the son of James Perry and Vera Nancy (Patterson) Bagwell. He was raised on the mill hill and graduated from Liberty High School, where he played football. Tommy loved the Lord and he loved his home church, Jones Avenue Baptist Church. When he moved to Missouri to be with his son and spend more time with his grandchildren, he continued his attendance at First Baptist Church Memphis, Mo.
Tommy was a founding member of the Swamp Brothers Fishing Club and enjoyed his time on the water fishing with his friends and family. He also spent many mornings drinking coffee and talking with his friends at the old M&M Service Station on Hwy 123 in Easley, SC.
One of his greatest joys in life was seeing his children graduate college and start a family. His favorite thing to do in his last few years was to watch his grandson, Joseph, play baseball and finally football where he took his Papa's old number 70.
Tommy will be missed by many but will be reunited with those he loved at the feet of his Savior Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Estelle, Sara, Roy, Carol, Clara, and Ann.
He is survived by his children: Crystal Bagwell of Pickens, SC, and the Rev. Jimmy Bagwell and his wife Brittany of Memphis, Mo.; grandchildren, Melanie and Joseph Bagwell of Memphis; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Tommy's memorial service will be held at Jones Avenue Baptist Church, 614 Ross Avenue, Easley, SC at a future date and time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Adair County (MO) Humane Society in Tommy's name and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.
Condolences may be sent to the Bagwell family by signing the online guestbook at gerthfuneralservice.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Gerth Funeral Service in Memphis.
